Diabetic Foot Care

Regular diabetic foot care can minimize the risk of dangerous injuries and help those that already exist. Diabetes often leads to loss of feeling in your feet, known as diabetic neuropathy, which can often result in wounds, ulcers and even infections.  Let us help you monitor your condition and manage the effects diabetes has on your life.

Plantar Fasciitis

One of the most common causes of heel pain is plantar fasciitis. This condition can impact your everyday life, starting with those first steps out of bed in the morning. Our skilled physicians can help you alleviate this pain using a multitude of conservative therapies.

Custom Ankle/Foot Orthotics

Not only do custom orthotics alleviate pain from common ailments such as flat feet, they can help resolve conditions including plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, foot ulcers and sports related injuries.

Richie Brace

If you suffer from PTTD (posterior tibial tendon dysfunction), a Riche brace can help alleviate your pain and help to avoid surgery.

Balance Brace

If you have trouble walking and require the aid of a cane or walker, try a custom balance brace to help prevent falls.

Drop Foot

Drop foot is a gait abnormality that may cause you to trip over your toes. Our ankle foot orthotics can help you walk with confidence.

Ingrown Toenails

This occurs when a corner or side of a toenail grows into the flesh and can be characterized by pain, redness, and swelling. If left untreated it may cause infection.

Broken bones/fractures

Broken bones can occur in your toes, heels, and ankles. The foot is made up of 26 bones and stress fractures and injuries to the bones are common.

Sprains and Strains

A sprain is a stretch and/or tear of a ligament. A ligament is the fibrous band of connective tissue that joins the ends two bones together. Ligaments stabilize and support the body's joints.

A strain is an injury of a muscle or tendon. Tendons are fibrous cords of tissue that attach muscles to bone.

Achilles Pain

If you are experiencing painful swelling in the back of your foot just above the heel, you may be suffering from achilles tendonitis. Achilles tendonitis is best treated early in the development of the condition.

Arthritis/Osteoarthritis

Arthritis simply means joint inflammation, as one ages, osteoarthritis may occur from wear and tear of the joints over time.

Heel Spur

A heel spur is a calcium deposit that causes a bony protrusion under the heel bone. It is often associated with plantar fasciitis. This can be caused by achilles tendonitis or plantar fasciitis.

Tendonitis

Tendonitis is overuse and inflammation of the tendon which may be caused by overuse of the area, an increase in the level of exercise, an age factor, or anatomical alignment.

Swollen Legs/Edema

If you have swollen legs it may be a result of Edema, a condition where excess fluid is trapped in your body's tissues.

Neuromas

A neuroma is a thickening of nerve tissue that can develop in various parts of the body creating nerve damage. Symptoms may include tingling, burning, numbness, pain, and a feeling that something is inside the ball of the foot.

Hammertoes

Characterized by a bending of one or both joints of any but the big toe. Symptoms may include corns between toes or on the top, side or end of the toes, calluses on the bottom of toes or on the ball of the foot, or pain and irritation when the toes come into contact with the shoe. Hammertoes and their symptoms generally worsen over time, as the friction between the foot and footwear becomes more severe. If left untreated, they can become rigid and open sores may form.

Bunions

Most often found on the inner foot near the big toe but sometimes located on the fifth toe, bunions are a painful yet common condition caused by inflammation of the bursa. Bursa resides in the connective tissues of the bodies and is essentially a small fluid filled sac.

Fungal Nails

Onychomycosis is a fungal infection of the toenails. This ailment causes toenails to thicken, discolor, disfigure, and split. Onychomycosis is generally established by laboratory tests before beginning treatment.

Sports Injuries

Common sports injuries include shin splints, achilles tendonitis or achilles tendon rupture, plantar fasciitis, and arch pain.

Warts

Plantar warts are growths on the bottom of the foot, most commonly occurring in children, adolescents and the elderly.

Flat Feet

Also known as fallen arches, the condition of flat feet is characterized by a lack of appropriate arch in the inner foot. It can be a genetic condition or the result of improper body mechanics. If you have flat feet, you may also experience pain throughout the lower body and into the lower back. Orthotics can be prescribed to create a system of support for the body and surgery can also offer a more permanent solution.
